2050

Net Zero
Target By

ECO4 is the fourth stage of the government’s energy programme.  The ECO award has been extended by a further four years as part of its Sustainable Warmth Strategy, making it valid until March 2026.

This grant's main objective is to assist low-income families who are unable to upgrade their homes and heating systems.

By doing this, the government will be able to assist those who are less fortunate with their household energy needs while simultaneously assisting the nation in achieving its net zero target by 2050.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is ECO?

An energy-efficiency programme run by the British government called The Energy Company Obligation (ECO4) aims to combat fuel poverty and lower carbon emissions. Energy companies are required by ECO to provide household buildings with energy efficiency measures. ECO is not a grant programme; it is up to the energy providers to decide which retrofit projects to sponsor, how much money they give, and which installers and retrofit coordinators to work with.

ECO4 aims to encourage the installation of various energy efficient measures such as insulation measures, first time central heating, renewable heating, and district heating connections. Through the ECO4 Scheme, homes could receive discounted (or free) home insulation, an upgraded boiler or green heating system.

Who qualifies for the ECO-4 Scheme?

Eligibility for the ECO4 scheme is determined through a DWP check, which verifies your benefits status. If you’re not on benefits, but your home is still energy inefficient, you might be eligible for the scheme through flexible eligibility (LAFlex) program that some councils participate in.

Any of the following makes you eligible to apply:

Receiving Benefits:
•    Child Tax Credits (CTC)
•    Child Benefits - depends on income threshold* (see thresholds)
•    Income based Jobseekers Allowance (JSA)
•    Income related Employment & Support Allowance (ESA)
•    Income Support (IS)
•    Pension Credit Guarantee Credit
•    Universal Credit (UC)
•    Warm Home Discount Scheme Rebate
•    Working Tax Credit (WTC)

Newly added with ECO4’s roll out are:
•    Housing Benefit
•    Pension Credit Saving Credit

Low Income Status:
•    Where your Gross Income (Before Tax) is less than £31,000 per annum.

NHS Referral:
•    Where you have been referred for a health condition or have limited capacity
o    Reduced Mobility
o    Cardiovascular
o    Respiratory
o    Immunosuppressed

Why is it free?

The government’s ECO4 scheme aims to support the least energy-efficient homes in the country, with a focus on low-income and vulnerable households. Since 2013, over 3.1 million home improvements have been made under the scheme, but this final phase aims to go even further. Eligible customers living in a home with a EPC rating of D or lower will be offered a package of free energy-saving measures and heating improvements.

What Our Happy Clients Say?

“My boiler was really old and hardly worked. I now have a brand new fully funded boiler that heats up my home really well. My gas bills are cheaper and winters are so much warmer!”
